About MentalPadi

A youth-led movement for mental well-being

At MentalPadi, we believe no young person should have to struggle with their mental health in silence. Young people are often left to battle stigma, isolation and lack of access, entirely on their own. We create honest conversations about mental health, run peer support circles, and push for policies that make care accessible to those who need it most.

Pillar 01 · Awareness

Breaking stigma, starting conversations

We create content and conversations that break stigma and open honest dialogue about mental health among young Nigerians. From myth-busting posts to curated playlists, every piece of content we produce is designed to start a conversation and remind someone they are not alone.

Pillar 02 · Support

Safe spaces to speak freely

We collaborate with mental health professionals and organisations to provide practical access to resources and guidance. Peer support circles, community chats and webinars create safe spaces where young people can speak freely and receive informed, compassionate support.

Pillar 03 · Advocacy

Pushing for stronger mental health policy

We push for stronger mental health laws and policies through data-driven research and targeted campaigns. We believe structural change is inseparable from individual support: both matter, and both require a sustained, collective voice.

Coming in 2026

Secondary school outreaches

MentalPadi is expanding beyond the digital space with physical outreaches for secondary school students across Nigeria: meeting young people where they are, before the weight of unaddressed struggles becomes too heavy to carry.

WHY SECONDARY SCHOOLS?

The transition from secondary school to university is one of the most pivotal and vulnerable periods in the life of a young Nigerian. Academic pressure, changing social environments, family expectations and the uncertainty of next steps all arrive at once, often without adequate support. MentalPadi is going directly into these schools to meet young people where they are.
